Diretto da Tate Taylor , “The Help ” arriverà nelle sale italiane dal 20 gennaio 2012, con protagonista Emma Stone, una delle attrici più promettenti del momento, affiancata da Viola Davis, Bryce Dallas Howard e Octavia Spence . Il film si basa sull’ononimo bestseller di Kathryn Stockett , un vero e proprio caso letterario finito al primo posto della classifica del New York Times.
La storia racconta di Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan , una giovane donna e il suo rapporto con la gente di colore nell’America degli anni ’60, durante la lotta per i diritti civili. La protagonista è una giornalista che decide di scrivere un libro dal punto di vista delle cameriere (il nome The Help deriva proprio da qui), mettendo nero su bianco il tema scottante del razzismo.
Emma Stone interpreta proprio la scrittrice, mentre lo scomodo compito della razzista tocca a Bryce Dallas Howard . Il film negli USA è stato un vero successo, incassando $198,853,480 in tutto il mondo, dopo essere stato realizzato con 25 milioni di budget. In Italia arriva con un po’ di ritardo e non si sa ancora se potrebbe sortire gli stessi effetti.
Interessanti anche le musiche, che sono state affidate al celebre compositore Thomas Newman , noto per le colonne sonore di “Vi presento Joe Black” e “American Beauty”, ma anche per “Il miglio verde” e “Alla ricerca di Nemo”, di recente abbiamo potuto ascoltare le sue composizioni anche in “The debt”. Taylor Tate , invece, è alla sua seconda prova alla regia, la più concreta, dopo l’esordio con “Pretty Ugly People”.
